10-Man United Sink Without Trace As Tottenham Put Six Past Awful Defence

Manchester United hosted Tottenham Hotspur in Sunday’s 4.30pm kick-off as both sides looked to kick on their Premier League campaign.

Not since 2011, when United lost to Manchester City 6-1, have they lost this badly. Before then you have to go back as far as 1955, when City won 5-0. This shows you just how bad United have been.

United were completely outplayed by spurs

Tottenham were absolutely magnificent – organisation, desire, aggression with and without the ball, clinical in forward areas, every player was a 9/10.

They were absolutely sensational. It was one of the best performances I’ve seen at Old Trafford.

Jose Mourinho’s return to Old Trafford looked to have got off to the worst possible start as Bruno Fernandes tucked away a penalty inside two minutes.

But Spurs hit back immediately through Two goals from Son Heung-min and Harry Kane and one apiece for Tanguy Ndombele and Serge Aurier saw 10-man United sink without trace as the inquiries begin into their shambolic showing

The result leaves United 16th in the Premier League table, with newly promoted Fulham and West Brom the only clubs with a worse goal difference. Only West Brom have conceded more than their 11 goals.

United were completely outplayed, even before they were reduced to 10 men midway through the first-half when Anthony Martial dragged his hand across Erik Lamela’s face in reaction to an elbow in his neck.

In contrast, Tottenham moved up to fifth after emerging from a packed schedule of five games in 11 days in three competitions with a creditable four wins and a draw.
