Kampala National Unity Platform (NUP) Party members are in a jubilant mood after getting many leaders in the youth polls that were held on Monday across the country.

Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu the NUP President praised the courage that was exhibited by the party youths that led them to victory in the different parts of the country.

Kyagulanyi noted that this was a sign that shows victory is on their side come

“That was a warm up that showed us that if we field a candidate on each electoral position, we will be winning it,” he said.

The Kyadondo East legislator and 2021 presidential hopeful called upon the elected NUP youths to be exemplary to those that have not yet seen the light.

“Amidst thanking you youths for knowing that this nation is yours and you did not stop saying it in words but also implemented it in actions, I want this to be a lesson to all of us,” he urged.

The party executive was also concerned about the confusion and disorganisation that was exhibited in the youths’ elections and vowed to go to courts of law.

“In some parts, the returning officers of the electoral commission announced numbers that were exceeding those of the registered voters. Let’s say if a polling station had 200 registered voters, the returning officers announced something like 230 and we were asking ourselves that were these 30 ghost voters? So this confusion that prevailed is being investigated and our lawyers are on top of this,”NUP Spokesperson Joel Ssenyonyi explained.

Kyagulanyi yesterday welcomed different groups of people that rallied behind him. Among these were teachers, boxers, and a youth group that claimed to be from the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).

Amidst all this, a soldier that was donned in the UPDF attire also came to pledge his support for Kyagulanyi claiming he had seen the sunshine.
