Breaking News: Civil Aviation Authority Boss Succumbs To Covid-19

Kampala: The Finance Director at Uganda Civil Aviation Authority succumbed to COVID-19 on Saturday, the Airport authority confirmed.

It was a somber mood at the Civil Aviation home in Entebbe as staff mourned the death of their finance boss Mr. Hannington Banyendera, who succumbed to Coronavirus.

“Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA), with great sorrow, announces the passing-on of our dear Director Finance, Hannington Banyendera,” the Airport Authority said.

Aviation said funeral arrangements will be communicated later but he will be greatly missed.

Mr. Banyandera supervised the drafting of new coronavirus containment rules at the Entebbe International Airport.

Speaking at a recent event, Banyendera said the Airport Authorities were working with the Ministry of Health and International World Health Organization to screen people coming into the country with cough and unusual temperature, in addition to sanitizing them.

Banyendera said that before a plane lands at Entebbe Airport, the Authority is furnished with information regarding the number of passengers on board and where they’re coming from.

Banyendera’s death comes at a time when PresidenMuseveni t is expected to address the country on today on Covid-19 surge.
