Mengo Court Chief Magistrate, Esther Nansambu  has dismissed with costs the application that was filed by National Unity platform(NUP) parliamentary Candidate, Fred Nyanzi In Kampala Central Member of parliament race where Nyanzi is challenging Mohammed Nsereko’s victory over what he termed as ireguralities in the just concluded elections.

This development comes after the former Kampala Central MP candidate Fred Nyanzi petitioned the Mengo Chief Magistrates Court seeking for a vote recount claiming irregularities in the recently concluded elections.

In her ruling, Nansambu noted that the court cannot proceed to order for a vote recount due to lack of evidence on the side of the applicant adding that Nyanzi did not notify the officer in charge of the elections in this case that he intended to file a petition against the results.

she further added that the declaration forms were all signed by the applicants’ agents at all the polling stations where Nyanzi alleges had irregularities.

Therefore court maintains that Muhhamad Nsereko is the legitimate member of parliament elect for Kampala Central.

Fred Nyanzi was defeated by the incumbent and independent candidate Muhammad Nsereko who got 16,998 votes against Nyanzi’s 15,975.
