CAF: Express FC, Sudanese Al Merrikh game postponed as teams relocate to new venue

Express FC to play it’s CAF Champions League preliminary round return leg against Sudanese side Al Merrikh at a later date, time and new Venue.
The Uganda football ambassadors, the Red Eagles, departed the country (Uganda) in Tuesday night for Sudan as part of their preparations for their second CAF Champions League match in 24 years.
On leaving home, the 7-time Uganda Premier League champions were expected to lock horns with the hosts on an earlier date and time than the latest update.
The Red Eagles landed in Sudan destined for Khartoum, which was the initial venue. However, due to spontaneous conditions, the fixture has been relocated to Obied.
Initially, the match was meant to be played on Friday 17th September 2021 in Khartoum at 8:00 PM. The latest adjustments have shifted the fixture to Shikan Castle in Obied on Sunday 19th, 2021 at 9:00 PM.
The Sudanese hosts have also been allotted permission to let in a maximum of 5,000 fans into the preliminary round return-leg venue.
The shift could be a disruption to the Express FC camp as they have to locomote from Khartoum to El Obeid which is a minimum of 360 kilometres away.
The positive about Express FC’s camp is the arrival of coach Simon Kirumira who had not traveled with the team due to travel document-related issues.
