Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club has confirmed the venue for hosting its home games in the CAF Confederations Cup preliminary round.
URA FC were crowned Uganda’s ambassadors in the 2021-22 CAF Confederations Cup season basing on their position in last season’s Startimes Uganda Premier League.
The tax collectors settled in second place before a national total lockdown saw football activities close. FUFA then resorted to referring to competition rules that considered the league’s first runner up as the country’s representative in the continent’s second-biggest club tournament.
Normally, Uganda is meant to be represented by the Uganda Cup champion something that has last been witnessed in the 2019-20 season where Proline FC hoisted the Ugandan flag in the tournament qualification rounds.
The COVID 19 pandemic lockdown in Uganda did not allow time for the completion of the 2019-20 Uganda Cup gifting the league’s second-placed KCCA FC the ticket to the CAF Confederations Cup just like it has happened for URA FC.
With the St. Mary’s Stadium in Kitende the only CAF-certified stadium in the country, just like KCCA FC last season, URA FC will host its games at the home of Vipers SC.
The tax collectors have been locally hosting games from the Arena of Visions in Ndejje, which is below the minimum CAF requirements for the competition’s venues.
URA FC will host Ethiopian Coffee SC on Sunday 12th September 2021 at 4:00 PM.
