Celebrated TV presenter MC Kats set to quit NBS TV

Celebrated TV presenter MC Kats set to quit NBS TV

The latest information coming in indicates that celebrated TV presenter and events manager Edwin Katamba a.k.a MC Kats will be quitting the Naguru based NBS TV soon.

Kats has been co-hosting NBSAfter 5 and catch up, one of the biggest entertainment shows with colleague, Douglas Lwanga.

According to a source close to him, he is dumping the show to concentrate on his HIV/AIDS education campaigns.

MC Kats recently signed a mega-deal with Uganda Aids Commission and other health organizations to run the “End Aids By 2030” campaign.

As part of his civic responsibility to advocate, advise and inspire the younger generation about HIV and other related diseases, he has been telling tales and ordeals at various spaces.

A few days back, he was among the key speakers at strengthening the TB response through the multi-stakeholders conference at Collin Hotel Mukono, where he revealed that he was previously living in denial about the disease. Even when he got Tuberculosis, MC Kats said he still didn’t come to terms with the fact that he was suffering from HIV.

“One of the first signs that I had HIV was TB but I first didn’t realize it. I went and bought cough syrup but it didn’t help. I started sweating all the time and then would get on and off fever but the weight loss was what forced me to call my mom who advised me to check up. I was told I was sick but I said no. I’m too cool and good to fall sick. I can’t be sick. I was given TB medication which I was supposed to take for six months. I took it for less than two months,” he said during the conference.

Rumor has it that NBS bosses have already identified budding and multitalented TV personality, Crysto Panda as his replacement.

Apparently, Crysto Panda and the bosses have already finalized the deal, which will see him join the Next Media conglomerate. The deal was signed and sealed this week on Tuesday.
