Court Orders For Fresh Elections In Soroti City East

Court has also ordered a by-election for Sororti City East.
Moses Okia has been thrown out of Parliament and the Electoral Commission ordered to hold fresh elections while respecting the boundaries of respective constituencies.
This comes after the court found out that over 5400 voters for Opiyayi and Aloet were disenfranchised.
According to Court, each party will bear its own costs.
While delivering the ruling, the judges including Justice Cheborion Barishaki, Stephen Musota, and Christopher Gashtrabake ordered at The Judgment, Decree and orders entered against the Appellants by the Learned trial Judge save for the award of costs are confirmed and upheld.
“Fresh elections for the position of directly elected Member of Parliament for Soroti City East constituency be conducted by the Appellant in a legally constituted constituency,” they ordered.
“The order of award of costs is set aside and substituted with an order that each party to the petition bears its own costs. Each party shall bear its own costs of this appeal. We so order,” They further added.
