Former Presidential Candidate Col. Dr Kizza Besigye has been arrested by police and UPDF’s Military in downtown Kampala for protesting the current economic crisis in Uganda.
Dr. Besigye was arrested on Tuesday afternoon in downtown Kampala after he resumed his protests following his release from Luzira prison where he had been for the same reasons.
Besigye was stopped on Namirembe road by security officers while addressing a crowd on top of his Toyota Land Cruiser with “Red Card” fliers which he was throwing on the streets.
The messages on the printed cards called for a reduction of the cost of living by cutting the taxes on fuel and essential goods.
