FUFA BIG LEAGUE: Proline Beat Blacks Power To Reach Final

FUFA BIG LEAGUE: Proline Beat Blacks Power To Reach Final

Proline FC had to dig deep as they came from a goal down to claim a narrow 2-1 win over Bukedea based Blacks Power and reach the final for the FUFA Big League at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru on Sunday.

Elias Oonyu Emokori placed Blacks Power into a first-half lead, but goals from defender Brian Mato and Brian Omonyi in the second half ensured victory for the Lugogo based.

Proline FC started on a high with numerous attacks in search of an early opener, but Blacks Power stood firm to keep the encounter level.

In the 14th-minute, Proline had a chance to break the deadlock, but Ivan Ocholit’s cut-back was blocked before meeting Hamis Kizza in the box.

A minute later, Elias Emokori Oonyu placed Blacks power in the lead with a looping header just inside the box from Micheal Siwu’s corner kick.

With five minutes to conclude the first half, Coach Anthony Bogole introduced Hakim Kiwanuka in the place of Ivan Ocholit, who had picked up an injury.

On the return of the second half, Proline ignited the pace of the game as they searched for an equaliser.

Seven minutes into the second half, right-back Mato levelled matters with a low shot from an angle that sailed below Blacks Power goalkeeper Emmanuel Odong.

In the 71st minute, Proline made a double substitution introducing Brian Umony and Alpha Ssali to replace Hamis Kizza and captain Noordin Bunjo.

In the 82nd-minute, Umony used his experience to score a classic poacher’s goal as he beat Odong and defender Solomon Opolot to a Rogers Mato’s cross to nod home what eventually turned out to be the winner.

Four minutes to the end of the game, Blacks Power’s Richard Ajuna launched a powerful strike that beat Sebwato but struck the post as Proline was let off the hook.

The victory means Proline will face Gaddafi in the FUFA Big League Play-off finals on Tuesday, August 17, 2021.
