Heartless Mother Rescued From Angry Mob After Dumping Son In The River
The Police in Kabale district are holding a 20-year-old woman for allegedly killing her 3-year-old son.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi region spokesperson identified the suspect as Mackline Asiimwe, a resident of Nyakatojo cell, Kanjobe parish, Kyanamira sub-county in Kabale district.
Asiimwe was on Thursday afternoon rescued from being lynched by angry residents of the same area who accused her of killing own son.
It’s alleged that Asiimwe who was impregnated by a boy only identified as Bosco gave birth to Milton Arinda (deceased) but the alleged father denied her support an act that angered Asiimwe on Wednesday and dumped the boy in the nearby Kiruruma river.
Maate stresses that Police further established that the suspect, on Wednesday 4th August 2021 at around 7:00pm left her mother’s home with the kid whom she surprisingly didn’t come back with at around 8:00 pm.
This forced Alice Ahimbisibwe her mother to ask her for the whereabouts of the boy.
Asiimwe’s adamant refusal to reveal the whereabouts of the son until Thursday morning prompted Ahimbisibwe to report the matter to Alex Bakesigaki, the area village Chairperson for action.
Upon interrogations by the area chairperson, Asiimwe revealed how she had dumped the son in the river where the body was found floating.
Maate noted that Police recorded statements from relevant witnesses, did a postmortem and handed over the body to relatives for burial.
The murder case by drowning has since been registered at Kabale Police Station on reference number CRB 665/2021.
