Heavy Security Deployment At Supreme Court  Ahead Of Bobiwine’s Election Petition

Latest news coming in from the supreme court indicate that lawyers of NUP Presidential candidate, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobiwine have arrived at the court to present the petition challenging president Museveni’s Victory in the 14 January elections.

However, there is heavy Security deployment at Supreme Court with both Security personnel in uniform and plain clothes to ensure security at the country’s highest court.

Kyagulanyi has since contested the results announced by the electoral commission that show President Museveni was reelected with a 58.38% compared to his 35.08 percentage of the total votes cast.

The petition is  being filed from a tent that has been placed  in the court premises to enable court users to observe covid 19 guidelines.

The  Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo arrived earlier on and NUP lawyers are in preparation to present their petition to the chief justice.

He however noted that the  NUP lawyers will not access the inside of the court premises as the court is observing the SOPs of COVID-19.
