How novelist Kakwenza Chewed Museveni’s transport money and disappeared in thin air

Award-winning author Kakweza RukiraBashaija has revealed that he once ate Museveni’s transport money worth UGX 5 million and disappeared in thin air.
According to Kakwenza in November 2020 (The same year he was arrested over his book titled “The Greedy Barbarian) he was called by a lady purportedly from the statehouse and he was in Rukungiri with no money.
Kakwenza told the lady he would have made it but didn’t have fuel to come to Kampala and the lady deposited UGshs5m after withdrawing the ka money, he switched off his phone for a month.
When they landed on him, he was also tasked to explain why he chewed the president’s money and failed to turn up.
Kakwenza’s confession comes weeks after he told the court to should send him his passport and transport money through the western union if they want him to appear after Buganda road issued an arrest warrant against him for absconding.
His four sureties were summoned to appear on April 11 to explain his whereabouts or pay ten million shillings in case he jumped bail.
However, in response, Kakwenza who had no kind words for the court said ”since the magistrate has issued an arrest warrant against me, I hereby donate my Ugandan passport that’s in his custody to the Uganda National Museum. If he can’t put it in the dock, let him archive it”.
Kakwenza who is currently staying in Germany was shortly after Christmas and charged with “offensive communication.” further noted that instead of the court arresting him, let them first arrest those who tortured him.
The troubled novelist was released on bail last month and later fled into exile in Germany where he said he went for specialized treatment for his torture wounds.
Kakwenza was charged with offensive communication contrary to section 25 of the Computer Misuse Act 2011 for allegedly abusing President Museveni and the Commander of Land Forces, Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba through social media.
“On December 24, 2021, Kakwenza Rukirabashaija in the Kampala district willfully and repeatedly used his Twitter handled to disturb the peace of his excellency the president of Uganda General Yoweri Museveni with no purpose of legitimate communicate,” the charge sheet read in part.
