Just In: Iteso Cultural Leader Is Dead

The Iteso Paramount Chief is dead.

According to sources, Emorimor Augustine Osuban Lemukol died on Saturday evening at Mulago National Referral Hospital where he had been admitted for close to two weeks.

Emorimor Lemukol, 88, was admitted to the COVID-19 Unit in Soroti early in January, but his condition deteriorated and he was transferred to Mulago Hospital.
The sad has also been confirmed by Paul Sande Omolot, the Iteso Cultural Union Chairman saying the details of the burial will be communicated in the due course.

“Emorimor Papa Iteso has left us this evening. Other details about his death and burial shall be communicated in due course”, he said.
Emorimor Lemukol was enthroned as the Iteso Paramount Chief in April 2000.

He made his last public appearance on January 3, 2022, during prayers organized by the Soroti Catholic Diocese.

The deputy speaker of Parliament, Hon. Among Anita who hails from Teso also confirmed that the Teso cultural leader and paramount chief breathed his last from Mulago hospital where he has been admitted.

“It is with deep sadness that I got the news of the passing on of our father the Emorimor Papa Osuban Augustine Lemukol from Mulago National referral Hospital. My deep sympathies to his family, the Iteso people and the Country at Large. May the Lord see us through this tough time,” she tweeted.
