Just In: Two NUP MPs Summoned over Masaka Killings

Two legislators from the National Unity platform (NUP) have been summoned to appear before Masaka police over the panga-wielding assailants commonly referred as ‘Binjambiya’ that have so far claimed several lives in Masaka

In two separate letters shared by the NUP party president Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu aka Bobi Wine via his social media handles, Mr. Paul Kato Tumuhimbise for the Criminal Investigations Department boss in letters through the Speaker of parliament has summoned Kawempe North legislator Muhammad Ssegirinya famously aka Mr. Updates and Makindye West Legislator Allan Ssewanyana to answer questions in regard to the rampant killings in the greater Masaka sub region.

Letters addressed to the two NUP MPs

Few days ago, the Minister of ICT and National Guidance Dr Chris Baryomunsi at Uganda Media Centre revealed that the Masaka killings are connected to opposition politicians though he didn’t categorically name them concurring with President Museveni’s position on the Masaka killings that it’s connected to politicians.

Over a month now, there has been a spate of killings in the greater Masaka region, several have left nursing wounds while 26 have already died prompting security to be beefed up in the area to curb the Masaka massacres.

“Countrywomen and men, As predicted, the Museveni regime has actualized their plan of implicating NUP leaders in the ongoing spate of murders in Greater Masaka. When Chris Baryomunsi said this last week, it looked like a joke. But as we now know, anything is possible in Uganda.” Bobi Wine wrote on Twitter.
