Khalid Aucho named Uganda Cranes captain for the game against Rwanda
28-year old central midfielder Khalid Aucho is the new Uganda Cranes captain going against Rwanda in the forthcoming FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifier.
Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has confirmed that Young Africans SC midfielder Khalid Aucho will captain the team in the World Cup Qualifiers doubleheader against Rwanda with away and home ties scheduled for October 7th and 10th respectively.
This follows the fact that the pre-current Captain Emmanuel Okwi has been dropped from the final national team squad of local and foreign-based players in final-touch preparations for the doubleheader against Rwanda.
Despite using the forward (Okwi) in the first two group games of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers, the head coach ‘Micho’ dropped Okwi for being clubless with Micho considering those in active club football somewhere.
“I together with my technical team have already decided on who will captain the team against Rwanda and that is Khalid Aucho
Denis Iguma will deputize him as Taddeo Lwanga, Timothy Awany, and other senior players will wait in the same line but I expect all my players to behave as leaders during those two matches and going forward,” – Uganda Cranes Head Coach Micho while on KFM Sports show as quoted by football256.
Aucho Khalid will hold the armband first away in Rwanda on 7th October then on 10th October in Uganda at the St. Mary’s Stadium in Kitende with the Cranes in search for their first victory having drawn the two opening games.
