Museveni To Announce Date For Schools Reopening Tomorrow
President Museveni will tomorrow decide on the fate of Schools to reopen for the remaining classes to either join candidates or remain home for another 3 months like it was earlier communicated.
The highly anticipated communication from the president on when or whether schools will fully or partially reopen for more classes in addition to the candidates has been long awaited since candidates returned to school in September.
Museveni’s announcement will a cabinet meeting that was held on Monday which accessed various options both the scientists and ministry of education officials submitted after they failed to agree on permitting all learners back to school this term.
While education technocrats had proposed that all learners return to school, scientists under the national covid19 task force said it was risky at the moment and appealed that they wait until learners are vaccinated.
However according to the health ministry, Uganda is likely to receive the first of the vaccine about 9 million doses between May and June and priority is to be given to frontline workers, elderly and those with underlying health conditions.
All education institutions were closed in March last year to curb the spread of Covid-19 and in September the president allowed phrased opening starting with candidates and finalists adding that continuing Students would go back to school after wards when the situation allows.
