My best friend died in the explosion- Kampala Central Mayor Salim Uhuru

As more details continue to emerge about the bomb explosions that went off in the middle of Kampala on Tuesday morning, Kampala Central Mayor Salim Uhuru has revealed that one of his friends only identified as Katongole is among the people that have been killed in the explosions.

The twin explosions occurred Raja chambers near the Parliamentary Main Gate on Parliamentary Avenue and another at the entrance of the Kampala Central Police Station.


The number of fatalities have not been confirmed by authorities , however, several bodies were seen laying on the ground, while others were being eveacuated at both scenes.

Kampala Central Mayor Salim Uhuru who was one of the leaders to arrive at the scene said one of the people killed in the attack was his own friend.


“I was sitting at my hotel down there and we heard the explosion. I walked all the way up to CPS. It’s very sad because one of victims is my good friend Katongole. Many of you know him, he works around here,” Uhuru said.

“At this point we have to be on a higher alert, because if these people are bold enough to attack a major police station, it means that we have be more security conscious,” he said.
