New KCCA policy requires Ugandans to bathe before entering Kampala

KAMPALA: The Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) is drafting a new policy that, among other things, will mandate that Ugandans bathe before entering Kampala City.
According to a source within the authority, the action is intended to sanitize the city’s air saturation after recent research showed that body odor was a significant contributor to air pollution in Kampala City.
The authority’s environmental specialists allegedly conducted profound observations, as well as interviews with residents of the City, and concluded that one approach to enhance Kampala’s air saturation is by requiring people to take showers.
According to the source, many bathing facilities will be built at strategic locations along the main thoroughfares going into the city, and bathing would be required of everyone entering the area.
However, there are fears that if adopted, the policy will be condemned by human rights activists who will likely argue that it infringes on people’s rights.
When compiling the story, the authority was yet to make an official statement on the reports and the spokesperson was unreachable as our repetitive calls went unanswered.
