No Covid-19 vaccination, no entry- universities tighten the noose ahead of re-opening

Following the directive by President Museveni for educational institutions to reopen with strict adherence to covid-19 measures, several universities have deployed stringent measures to have their learners and staff ready for resumption.
As one of the most effective measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19, Museveni emphasized vaccination for both students, teachers and all staff to ensure safe reopening.
Now Bugema and Kampala universities have revealed that non-vaccinated students will not be allowed to attend lectures or access the university premises.
Most universities have set up free vaccination centers and sensitized all their students and staff to get the jabs as one of the ways to ensure safe reopening which is slated for 1st November 2021.
In a letter dated 20 October 2021 sent out to all students and staff, Kampala University has called upon all its staff and students to report to all their campuses starting October 28-31, 2021 for vaccination.

The university says this will help them to reopen when everybody is vaccinated as required adding that vaccination will be a requirement for anyone to attend lectures at the University.
At Bugema University, Richard Kanyerezi the head of the University COVID 19 Task Force, said that at least 78% of their staff have already been vaccinated and the exercise is still ongoing. No student will be permitted to enter the university premises unvaccinated.
