Omwaavu Wakuffa: List Of Hospitals With Alarming Charges For Covid-19 Treatment
The surge in Covid-19 cases has caused alarm and panic among members of the public with some instituting their individual lockdowns.
The virus, that attacks largely the respiratory system has so far killed more than 500 people in Uganda.
Some of those who have survived it have not been spared the financial wrath associated with treating those who are in a critical state.
Yet the major beneficiaries of this financial windfall have been the private medical facilities, some of which have adjusted their Covid-19 treatment rates upwards.
In fact, if one spent 20 days in the ICU of some of these facilities, they could spend money that could buy them a decent house in Gayaza and some of the developing suburbs of Kampala.
Already some people have cried out to the government to help rein in the facilities. Col Edith Nakalema, the head of the State House Anti-Corruption Unit warned that the government may be forced to intervene and put hospitals to order.
Below we give a breakdown of charges levied by various private health facilities in the treatment of Covid-19.
