Protests have this afternoon rocked Uganda’s capital Kampala and its suburbs challenging the arrest of the National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine who is according to our sources detained at Nalifenya police station in Luuka district.

Police dispersed his first rally and forcefully arrested him for allegedly holding an assembly of more than the 200 stipulated in the electoral commission campaign guidelines which protestors challenge saying why “unprofessional and partisan police” behave otherwise when NRM candidates are doing the same.

“Ever since Museveni started his campaigns, he has been commanding his greedy artists including Bebe cool, Catherine Kusasira to hold mega rallies in Northern Uganda while being escorted by the same police that is torturing and brutalizing our presidential candidate, enough is enough! we are tired of unprofessional and partisan police in Uganda,” Furious protestor in Kiseka market noted.

Meanwhile, during the scuffle between police and angry protestors, some journalists were teargassed, injured, and rushed to hospitals while a couple of protestors have been shot dead.
