Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) has finally unearthed the details of the shooting that took place last evening leaving one dead.
According to Asp Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy PRO KMP, the territorial Police at Wakiso are investigating a murder by shooting of one Robert Kagolo a journalist with Uganda Broadcasting co-operation that took place at Bugembejembe village in Wakiso, on 29.04.2021 at around 8pm.
It is alleged that while Robert Kagolo was returning from the village after the brother’s burial, he hurriedly entered and knocked on the gate of late’s home which was being guarded by LDU personnel after he suspected that some people were following him.
Luke says that it is from that background that a disagreement between him and two LDU personnel who were guarding the home started. He adds thus; ”unfortunately, the disagreement led to a shooting of which the circumstances are being investigated.”
Luke further states that the victim was later rushed to ST. Joseph Hospital Wakiso where he succumbed to the injuries sustained.
The shooter has been identified as Mamuli Rashid.
”Upon getting the information, a joint team of Police and LDU command responded to the scene and managed to arrest Rahid and his colleague,” says Police.
Meanwhile, Kagolo’s body is yet to be conveyed to city mortuary Mulago for postmortem as Investigations into the matter are ongoing according to police
