President Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni while addressing the country on several issues while delivering his new message, revealed that a prominent kickboxer Zebra Ssenyange aka Mando was shot dead by police, an incident that left a couple of Ugandans restless about the several numbers of people that have since lost lives in the same way.
Museveni revealed that at first he wondered who could have killed Mando but after taking some critical investigations, he came to know that actually, he was an undergrounding “criminal” who connived with opposition “gangs” to destabilize the country which government could not tolerate.
“I have just come to understand that Mando was the trainer of the National Unity Platform boxers and security guards who were planning to destabilize the country by attacking security operatives while carrying out their duties,” said Museveni.
Museveni says that it is against that background that Police around midnight of December 30, 2020, went to arrest him from his home, but when he saw them, he tried running which police responded to0 by shooting him to death.
“Zebra at one point he was an NRM supporter, actually he has done much to develop his country through kickboxing, but he has also done a lot the government by conniving with opposition criminals to destabilize the country,” said Museveni.
However, Museveni’s statement that Mando was shot while trying to run from police slightly contradicts with what the eyewitnesses saw and saying that unidentified gunmen covering their heads with masks knocked on Ssenyange’s door, he drew the curtain but when he saw how gunmen were covering their heads, he started panicking and tried running.

According to area LC1 chairperson Abdulatif Ssalongo Ssekirime, when Mando climbed and jumped his wall fence trying to escape through a corridor, he later returned and surrendered himself to them, knelt down with his arms up, and pleaded for his life before he was heard confessing that he was not a member of any political party which all meant nothing to the assailants who went ahead to shoot him.
Later, the National Unity Platform(NUP) spokesman Joel Ssenyonyi released a post on his social media claiming that Mando was shot dead because he had recently joined their party and had started mobilizing the area youth to join them which the government saw as a loss and opted to kill him.
