Sad News: Nexus Lounge Founder Ivan Kakooza Is Dead

Ivan Kakooza, the founder and proprietor  of  the famous Nexus Bar and Restaurant in Najjera, Wakiso District has been confirmed dead. The sad news has been confirmed by Joan Kaitetsi, the manager of Nexus lounge “Yes, it is true, Ivan is gone,” Kaitesti said this morning.

The cause of his death is still unclear however it is alleged that Kakooza might have succumbed to Covid-19 but this is yet to be confirmed. Kakooza, is said to have passed on at Mulago National Referral Hospital in Kampala where his body is currently kept.

Ms Kaitetsi  the manager of the bar added that  Ivan had been unwell after missing at work for some time
“He’s not been coming to work for the last two weeks. He was not feeling okay,”  she said.

A few years back, Kakooza grew Nexus bar’s client base from less than 100 a week to thousands of revelers by organizing music shows where he invited prominent musicians to perform for city dwellers who filled the famous hangout especially on weekends.

He also introduced theme nights on special days such as Valentines and Independence Day that would see him sell alcohol worth millions in a single night.

Kakooza is said  to have been deeply affected by the closure of bars following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in March this year.
