SUPL: KCCA FC confirms a new Club captain ahead of Uganda Premier league start
Today as the thirteen-time champions KCCA FC launched their new season, new changes have been confirmed regarding who will take on the mantle of leadership as club captain is concerned.
The captain’s role has been vacant since the departure of first-choice goalkeeper Charles Lukwago who has taken the captain’s responsibility from defender Timothy Awany who had left KCCA FC for Israel’s top-flight side Ashdod FC.
Benjamin Ochan steps in after Charles Lukwago flew out of the country for Ethiopia where he currently plies his trade with league giants St. George SC. Benjamin’s appointment means that the Kasasiro Boys shall be captained by goalkeepers in two consecutive seasons.
Benjamin Ochan returned to KCCA FC this past transfer window from Kenyan giants AFC Leopards. It is for the third stint that the experienced custodian will be standing between the posts for KCCA FC.
The last time Ochan was at Lugogo was in 2018 and he was in goal when KCCA FC defeated Egyptian Al Masry to storm their first-ever CAF Confederations Cup group stages. He later left for Zambia joining Kabwe Warriors before landing in Kenya.
At KCCA FC he will captain with midfielder Gift Ali, defender Denis Iguma and winger Julius Poloto as his assistants in that order.
The Kasasiro Boys are set for their first league game which will be away in Wakiso on Sunday against Wakiso Giants FC.
The Startimes Uganda Premier league 2021-22 season kicks off on Friday 15th October 2021.
