‘The Deputy Speaker Position Is Not Vacant’- Tanga Odoi

The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party has revealed that it has no vacancy for the position of a deputy speaker.
This has been confirmed by the NRM electoral commission chairperson Dr. Tanga Odoi saying that the party will not conduct any nominations for the deputy speaker position.
“We do not have a vacancy for the deputy speaker. We only have a vacancy for the speaker,” Tanga Odoi told Journalists at NRM Secretariat in Kyadondo.
Before Odoi’s statements, sources from the state house revealed that president Museveni declined to endorse because of Among Anita’s interest to replace her deceased boss Oulanyah thus advising her to remain in her position as deputy speaker.
The same source revealed that Museveni has since directed the state Minister for defense Jacob Oboth Oboth to resign from his duties and collect the party nomination forms for the position however according to Odoi, Museveni has not yet endorsed any candidate for the speakership race.
“All aspirants will be vetted by the Central Executive Committee chaired by the party chairperson and those found fit will be recommended to the NRM parliamentary caucus,” Odoi said.
Meanwhile, Anita Among who has already picked nomination forms through her personal assistant, Mary Athieno this morning from the NRM Secretariat In Kyadondo and we wait to see what the NRM Caucus decides on who to front on the position.
