The England international becomes Villa’s fifth signing of the window, following the arrivals of Ollie Watkins, Bertrand Traore, Emiliano Martinez, and Matty Cash

After securing Barkley’s signature, Villa head coach Dean Smith told the club’s website: “Capturing a player of Ross’ quality is a real coup for our club and I am certain he will thrive here and improve our team.

Manchester United have had a bid for Jadon Sancho worth up to £91.3m (€100m) rejected by Borussia Dortmund.

The offer was for an initial £73m, rising to up to £91.3m, which fell short of Dortmund’s £108m valuation

Leicester have agreed on a deal to sign teenage defender Wesley Fofana from St Etienne for a fee that could rise to £30m.

According to sky sports, The French club confirmed the agreement on Tuesday evening, stating it will be the largest transfer fee they have ever received, and the uncertain economic environment caused by the coronavirus pandemic was a major factor in accepting the bid.

Fofana, 19, who has been vocal about his desire to come to the Premier League after an outbreak season in Ligue 1, was also a target for West Ham, but they are now exploring alternative options

“The decision to sell the player was taken collegially by the management board and the shareholders,” a St Etienne statement said.

“ASSE accepted Leicester’s exceptional offer, especially given the uncertain economic context caused by the health crisis.”

Lyon have reportedly reached an agreement over a deal to bring in a possible replacement for Houssem Aouar.

Aouar could join Arsenal before the transfer window closes next week and the Ligue 1 club is moving quickly to ensure a new signing is in place.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims a deal is done for Lyon to sign Lucas Paqueta from AC Milan.
