U-Turn: ministry Of Education Changes Reporting Dates For S.2 Students

Form two students will not report back to school as earlier announced and according to the Ministry of Education and Sports, they will now report back to schools on May 12th, 2021.

Initially, the Ministry had set May 31st as reporting date for S.2 students as part of the staggered reopening calendar issued early this year.

The Ministry bdays that since senior four and six students have completed examinations and returned home, there is space for S.2 students to attend classes in observance of COVID-19 guidelines.

Alex Kakooza the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education and sports made the announcement on Wednesday in a statement.

According to the Ministry of Education schedule only learners in Primary Four, Five and Six, Senior Three and Five were authorized to return to school however, many private schools went against the government’s phased re-opening of classes and sneaked in others who were yet to be allowed back.

The government in March last year closed all institutions of learning following the Covid-19 outbreak in the country.

Last week, the government reported a significant increase in Covid-19 positive cases and warned that the country is nearing the onset of the second wave of the pandemic, which could affect livelihoods and the economy.
