Uganda Confirms 1,727 New COVID-19 Cases In One Day As Cases Skyrocket To 61,977 Cases

Kampala: Uganda has recorded 1,727 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours from results of COVID-19 tests done on 11 June 2021 bringing the cumulative confirmed cases to 61,977.

The breakdown of the new cases are:
1,724 Contacts and Alerts: Kampala (1,131) Wakiso (176) Luwero (69) Kabarole (49) Gulu (26) Packwach (23) Mbale (23) Bunyangabu (22) Mpigi (20) Busia (17) Tororo (17) Bushenyi (12) Kyenjojo (10) Mbarara (8) Arua (13) Mitooma (7) Yumbe (8)

Others are from Terego (11) Kasese (6) Hoima (5) Lyantonde (5) Kamwenge (5) Pader (5) Adjumani (5) Kiruhura (5) Jinja (5) Kalungu (4) Mukono (4) Lira (3) Ntoroko (4) Bundibugyo (3) Moroto (3) Nakaseke (2) Rugazi (2) Gomba (2) Napak (2) Isingiro (1) Kikuube (1) Buikwe (1) Kanungu (1) Kyegegwa (1).

The figure becomes Uganda’s second-highest number of Covid-19 cases in a single day since the pandemic began.

Data from the Ministry of Health further indicated that the country recorded 5 deaths —bringing the total number to 428.

Ministry of Health data shows the country had by Sunday cumulatively recorded 61977 Covid-19 cases with at least 884 patients admitted to hospitals across the country.

Cumulative recoveries have reached 48,160. The number of vaccinated people have reached 777,805.

Uganda is struggling with the entrance of other variants like the South African, Indian, and British mutants.

Uganda imposed Covid restrictions that include a ban on inter-regional travels, curfew between 21:00 to 05:30 and closure of learning institution.
