Uganda registers 15 Deaths As Covid -19 Cases Shoot To 1560

The Ministry of Health has confirmed that Uganda has registered two deaths and 60 new infections raising total cumulative confirmed cases to 1,560, and 1,165 recoveries with 15 deaths.

According to the Ministry of Health, two fatalities are both Ugandan males aged 63 and 33 years old, who were admitted at Rubaga Hospital with signs and symptoms consistent with COVID-19.

In the same vein, results from samples tested on 16th August 2020 confirmed sixty (60) new cases that included;
Twenty-eight (28) who are alerts, fourteen (14) contacts to previously confirmed cases, fourteen (14) returnees and four (4) truck drivers.

Regarding the twenty-eight (28) alerts, fifteen (15) are from Kampala, five (5) from Namisindwa, two (2) from Luwero and six (6) from Moroto, Arua, Gulu, Pader, Katakwi and Kasese Districts.

Of the fourteen (14) contacts to previously confirmed cases, seven (7) are from Kasese, four (4) from Kampala, three (3) from Arua, Masaka and Kikuube.

However, the fourteen (14) returnees include nine (9) from Saudi Arabia, two (2) from Kenya, three (3) from Germany, Oman and Ethiopia.

Whereas, of the four (4) truck drivers, two (2) arrived from South Sudan via Madi Opei border while two (2) arrived from DRC via Lia and Mpondwe points of entry respectively.

Meanwhile, twenty-one (21) foreign truck drivers that included 11 Kenyans, 7 Congolese, 2 Britrean and 1 Tanzanian tested positive for COVID-19 at the border points of entry and their entry into the country was not permitted.
