UNEB Speaks Out On How Candidates, Schools Will Access 2020 PLE Results
Jennifer Kalule Musamba, the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) Principal Public Relations Officer has confirmed that the 2020 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) Results will be released on Friday, July 16, 2021.
Kalule – Musumba in a statement on Wednesday evening said the results will be released by Minister for Education and Sports Janet Museveni at 10:00 am in a scientific event to be held in State House Entebbe.
She advised that schools will access the results through the UNEB portal, the same way they used to register candidates
“Every school with a UNEB Center Number can access our portal. The portal was used during registration of candidates and it will be used to send results once they are released (on Friday),” she said.
“Once they are released, the results for each school will be automatically uploaded to the portal,” she said.
Musumba said no hard copies of the results will be available at the UNEB offices for now, until a later date when conditions permit.
“UNEB will officially inform the District, Municipal and City Inspectors of Schools to collect the hard copies of the results from UNEB offices,” she added .
For candidates, parents and other interested parties, she advised that they may use the Short Message Services (SMS) on mobile telecom networks which will post the results of candidates on their mobile sets instantly.
In your message box, type UACE <space> INDEX NUMBER and send it to 6600.
For example, to check the results of the candidate with index number U1016/501, in your message box, type UACE U1016/501 AND SEND TO 6600.
The user should then receive his/her examination results or registration details instantly. You will receive an SMS at a cost of UGX 500 per candidate
How to Access Results
Go to messages
Type the full index number
Send to 6600
The other alternative is to check results through the Internet.
Go to your web browser, Type ereg.uneb.ac.ug/results.
In the form, enter the candidate’s Index Number and click SEARCH.
A page with the Candidate’s results will load.
However, last year, UNEB blocked the online option of checking Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) 2019 results after pressure from telecom companies MTN Uganda and Airtel Uganda who were contracted to post results to students via Mobile SMS.
To this effect, the portal remained unavailable for candidates.
A total of 749, 761 candidates from 14,300 examination Centres registered for PLE in 2020. 53% (395,855) of the registered candidates were females while 47% (353,957) were males. 68.4% (513,091) were funded by the government under the Universal Primary Education (UPE) Program.
Overall, the performance of the 2020 candidates is comparable to that of the previous year.
